IEEE CONECCT 2024

WS-1: Non-Terrestrial Satellite Networks

This workshop will provide holistic overview of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) work on evolving the 5G wireless technology to support Non-Terrestrial Satellite Networks. Adapting 5G to support non-terrestrial networks entails a holistic design spanning across multiple areas from radio access network to services and system aspects to core and terminals. This workshop will include theory sessions and practical hands-on session for NTN using open-source NASA’s General Mission Analysis Tool (GMAT). The indented audience for this workshop is from industry, academia, and research who has a background in telecommunications. The audience is not expected to have any background in NTN Satellite communications, as this workshop will give the basics of NTN satellite communication needed to understand the related concepts. This workshop is focussed on engineers and managers who wish to get introduced to the world of NTN and Satellite Communications. There is also no need to for any coding expertise for the hands-on session. The timing of this workshop could not be any better as Govt. of India is encouraging academia and industry for larger participation in space technologies.
